Barney's Family and Friends' Weekend Away
8 - 10 September 2017 | Camp Clayton, Ulverstone, TAS
you are welcome
The grow weekend is a chance for friends and family of Barney’s to get away together and enjoy some time worshipping, reflecting, having fun and getting to know each other more.
It is our hope that grow will provide opportunity for extended conversations, relaxed and meaningful times of worship, personal and communal reflection and lots of fun as the family of Christ.
The weekend is open to all those connected with Barney’s, and we would love friends from other church communities who have relationship with us to come and join in too!
Our focus this year at grow is to facilitate deepening relationships within our community. At Barney’s we know we are called to be God’s Missionary People - seeing lives transformed and there are many fantastic missional activities going on in and through our community all year round. We recognise, however, that it is also very important that we invest in our relationships with one another and grow will provide many opportunities for this whether over a coffee, a meal, a walk on the beach or over a game!
We want to make plenty of space for hanging out and getting to know one another more. When the body of Christ is healthy and deepening as a community, lives can be transformed and so this year, as well as times of worship, devotionals and short teaching inputs, there will also be lots of time for fun!
We will be spending the weekend at Camp Clayton in Ulverstone (41 Clayton Road, Ulverstone) - a great, family-friendly location right by the beach with good facilities and lots of fun activities for everyone. Last year many of us had great fun on the giant swing, and this will be an option again this year! As well as this there are free activities such as archery, a bouldering wall, frisbee golf and gaga ball. We will also be facilitating some fun games ourselves!
This year we have a choice of accommodation; the first is in bunk-style rooms where families willbe together, and single people / couples will share a room with one or two others. Linen is not included - so please bring your own (although it is available to hire for an additional fee).
The second option, for the first time this year, is to camp. There is a grassy camping area in front of the bunk rooms, and you will join the rest of the group for meals. There are even some powered sites for anyone with a caravan or RV!
And thirdly, if neither of the previous options appeal, you are welcome to organise your own accommodation in the local area, and join us for our sessions together. This will incur a small fee, which can be discussed.
This year, in order to keep costs as low as possible, we have opted to function as a self-catering group. Over the weekend we will therefore be asking everyone to pitch in with setting up and clearing up before and after meals. If you would also be willing to help with food preparation and cooking, please speak to Gabi (email@example.com).
We are also asking everyone to bring along something to share for morning or afternoon tea, whether sweet or savoury, so that we can have some treats over the weekend as well :)
The children in our community are very much a part of the body of Christ and so grow is for the whole family. They will have the option of joining in some supervised activities during teaching inputs, but will be invited to join in for the rest of our programme :) If your children are coming with you, feel free to bring along games and activities that they will enjoy. Camp Clayton is a great place to ride a bike so bikes and scooters are welcome too!
Your cost for the weekend will depend on your choice of accommodation. Prices are as follows:
Bunk Accommodation adult: $105
Bunk Accommodation Child (6-15): $70
Child (under 6): free of charge
Camping adult: $70
Camping child (6-16): $40

We would really hate for anyone not to come only because they can’t afford it. So if you want to come, but can’t afford the full amount, please chat to Andy or Liz (in confidence). Equally, if you are in the fortunate position of being able to afford more, please prayerfully consider donating extra to bless someone else.
