Tasmania's New Bishop

Richard Condie

Richard Condie

If you've been following our news here on the website and in our newsletters, you will know that, as Bishop John Harrower retired in September, the Diocese of Tasmania has been involved in the process of selecting a new Bishop.

On 27 and 28 November, the Diocesan Synod (constituting clergy and lay representatives of each Anglican parish in our state) met to vote for the candidates with the outcome that Rev. Richard Condie was named as the new Bishop of Tasmania.

Richard is currently vicar of St Jude's, Carlton in Melbourne. He is also Archdeacon of Melbourne and sits on a number of boards, including the Anglican Relief and Development Fund.

Thanks to those who have been praying while this important process has been undertaken. Please pray for Richard and his wife Helen as they prepare for this new adventure to which God has called them. Richard will be commissioned as Bishop in the first half of next year.
