Spiritual Formation Resources

If you have been following our series of talks on Spiritual Formation, you will know that we wrapped it all up this past Sunday with Andy pointing us towards some resources that might be helpful in engaging further. In case you're desperately racking your brain trying to remember which books etc. he talked about, we thought we'd pop them on here!

Firstly, he talked about a book called Sacred Pathways by Gary Thomas. This identifies nine different ways that people tend to engage with God (by no means an exhaustive list!). You can find a description of the nine types, and an assessment to work out what your tendency is, here. There is also a study guide which goes along with Sacred Pathways which you can view here.

Other books Andy mentioned are as follows:

Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster

Spiritual Disciplines Handbook by Adele Ahlberg Calhoun

The Apprentice Series (3 books) by James Bryan Smith

and finally, the book that informed much of our series on Spiritual Formation, was Invitation to a Journey by M. Robert Mulholland

We have copies of most of these books at Barney's, so feel free to borrow before spending money on them!
